The ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education were rescinded in 2016 by ACRL at the American Library Association's Annual Conference when The Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education was officially adopted.
Though the Framework is now the guiding document, the ACRL Standards are still useful as a reference tool when planning assignments.
The Association of College and Research Libraries' Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education were adopted in January 2000. The standards have been endorsed by the American Association for Higher Education and the Council of Independent Colleges. They are recognized and were used by libraries and educational institutions worldwide when planning information literacy instruction.
