This Bentley Library research guide was created to provide a starting point for researching companies.

SWOT Reports

SWOT Reports for most public companies and some large private companies are available in these library databases:

  • Search Tip: Type a company name or ticker symbol into the search box and choose a company from the list of suggestions to retrieve a company profile. If a SWOT report is available for the company it will appear on the company profile page. Click the "Read full SWOT Analysis" button to access the report.
  • Search tip: Find a SWOT analysis for a company
  1. Select the Investext tab
  2. Select a date range or choose "no date range" to see all dates
  3. Click the + symbol next to COMPANY, enter the company name or ticker symbol, then click [submit].
  4. Next, click the + symbol next to KEYWORD, select "search whole report" from the drop-down, enter the word SWOT, then click [submit].
  5. If the search has results, click View to see them. Typically, SWOT reports from GlobalData and MarketLine will be retrieved.

Other search options will allow you search by industry, country, region, report style, and date.

Although most MarketLine Company Profiles contain a SWOT (see below), you may find the most up-to-date SWOT has been published in a standalone format. Here's how to search for both a Company Profile and a SWOT (outside of the company profile report). Compare the dates to see which SWOT is more recent.

  • Search tip - SWOT Analysis: On the right side of the screen click on the [SWOT Analyses] link. Enter the company name in the search box and click [Browse]. Locate your company in the list and click on its name. On the right side of the page, use the date menu to browse for the most recent SWOT and click to retrieve it.
  • Search tip - Company Profile: Click on [Company Profiles] on the right side of the page. Enter the company name in the search box and click [Browse]. Locate your company in the list and click on [MarketLine Report]. Reports contain a SWOT analysis (for most public companies).
  • Search tip: Search for a company, then on the profile page look for a link to SWOT. Reports are provided by GlobalData.
