The mission of the Bentley University Library information literacy program is to ensure that graduates of Bentley University are information-literate; that students are able to recognize the need for, successfully find, critically evaluate, and ethically use information as scholars and later as citizens and members of the workforce.
Based on the Association of College and Research Libraries’ (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, Bentley reference librarians will focus on the following core concepts and outcomes in research instruction to meet its goals.
Static or persistent links allow users to create links to documents and citations from some Bentley Library electronic resources to Brightspace course sites, websites, online bibliographies, and documents with HTML formatting. When combined with the Library's proxy server tag most of the linked resources can be made available to remote users.
Make sure that the link is configured for off-campus use. See Making Links Available for Remote Users for tips on what to look for in the URL.
Scholars @ Bentley is a digital archive that collects and preserves the intellectual output of Bentley faculty and students. This service of the Bentley University Library provides open, worldwide access to these materials and promotes Bentley scholarship, teaching, and learning.
Open access (OA) refers to the practice of making scholarly research articles freely available to the public. With the use of open licenses, OA allows for widespread dissemination of knowledge and facilitates further research and collaboration. For an article to be labeled OA, it must be free of charge to the reader, immediately accessible, provided in a digital format, and free of most copyright restrictions.
Traditional textbooks and other learning materials have become increasingly unaffordable for students, and often have usage restrictions. Open Educational Resources (OER) are free, openly licensed learning materials, such as textbooks, course modules, and multimedia resources, that are affordable, easily accessible, and customizable. They play a pivotal role in reducing the financial burden on students, and they empower instructors to customize and adapt content to suit their teaching styles and the unique needs of their students.
