*Bentley Library Status and Services

Due to precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, services at the Bentley Library will be different from past academic years. This guide provides an overview of our services and operations and will be updated throughout the year.

Will the Bentley University Archives be available?

We encourage anyone who is interested in archival material to contact the archives directly to ask about access to Archives material. Please send an email to with your questions.

Can we still use the group study rooms?

Yes. Rooms are available on a first come, first served basis.

Do I have to wear a face covering if I am in a study room by myself?

Face coverings are required in all library spaces at all times per Bentley University guidelines.

Can I print at the library?

Yes. Printers and scanners are available.

Are food and drink still allowed in the library?

Food and drink is permitted in the library.

What precautions are you taking to protect library users and staff and minimize risk of infection?

Library staff are following all state and university COVID-19 public health guidelines. These may include maintaining physical distance, wearing face coverings, frequent handwashing/disinfecting and performing a health self-check before coming to campus. Additional measures include:

  • To minimize interactions at the Library Services Desk we are implementing a self-service, open holds shelf. Library users will be able to grab their hold items from a cart in the lobby and check them out using the self-check machine. Users will also be required to use self-check when borrowing books and DVDs from the stacks.
  • Reference and Research Help interactions can be conducted online, including via live chat, email, text, and Zoom.
  • Appropriate cleaning products will be provided for wiping down shared computers, scanners, and copiers between uses. Wall-mounted hand sanitizer dispensers are available throughout the library.

Should I clean or disinfect materials I borrow from the library?

No. It is not necessary to clean or disinfect library materials given the precautions our staff will be taking, and it may damage the materials. We encourage users to practice good hand hygiene when using any library materials.

Are visitors allowed to use the library?

Yes, visitors are now welcome to visit the Bentley Library. Face coverings are required in all library spaces at all times.

I have some books I’d like to donate to the library. Can I drop them off?

We are not accepting donations at this time, but Bentley faculty may contact their library liaison to discuss donation options.
