Mosaic USA

Mosaic USA Consumer Segmentation via the DemographicsNow database:

Mosaic  USA is a segmentation system developed by Experian that classifies U.S. households into 71 unique types and 19 overarching groups that share similar demographic and socioeconomic characteristics.

Mosaic  USA profiles provide information about the sociodemographics, lifestyles, behaviors, and culture of consumers within each of the 19 groups and 71 segments. Affluence and life stage, combined with property characteristics, socio-economics, ethnicity, additional financial measures, and the type of geographic location (e.g. urban or rural) are key components of the Mosaic classifications.

Go to the Demographics Now database

  • Click on the menu icon in the top right corner 
  • Click HELP
  • Scroll down to view [Mosaic USA Details]:

You will see links to the 19 Mosaic USA group profiles and the 71 Mosaic USA segment descriptions.
You can also look at the Grand Index - a statistical report that ranks and indexes more than 600 demographic, psychographic, and lifestyle characteristics for each Mosaic group/type.

Use the MediaMark University Reporter to find demographics on individuals who make sports equipment purchases.  

  • Login to MediaMark University Reporter and click on the 2019 GfK Reporter 2019 study.
  • Select the Leasure/Sports category.
  • In the "Question"  section scroll down to "Sports", where you will see a number od question areas related engagement in sports and amount spent on sports equipment. 


Mediamark University Internet Reporter/MRI+ (Registration Required) 

Create a Mediamark University Internet Reporter Account

To use Mediamark you must create an account using your Bentley email address. Mediamark accounts automatically expire two times per calendar year — on June 30 and December 31. Users will need to re-register after January 1 and July 1 each year for access to the Mediamark database.

The database is limited to 20 simultaneous users. If you experience an "at capacity" message, please try using the database at another time.

Registration Steps:

  • Go to the Mediamark home page and click the [Register] link.
  • Enter your name and your Bentley University email address. A Bentley email address is required for proper authentication.
  • After registering, you will receive a password validation email from You must click the activation link in the email within 3 days to activate your account and set up your password. (Please note that it can take a few minutes for the link to be scanned by Bentley's virus checker before you'll be able to click it).
  • After clicking the activation link, you will be able to create your own password to access Mediamark University Internet Reporter. The password must be between 8-16 characters in length and have at least one alphabetic character and one numeric digit.
  • After all these steps have been completed, proceed to Mediamark Reporter to begin using the database.
