Getting Started

The Bentley University has both print and electronic resources that will help students research the political, social and economic characteristics countries.  Books help to provide context for topics and can be searched via the Bentley Library's online catalog (please see the "Books" tab).  Titles not available at the Bentley Library may be available via Interlibrary Loan.  Databases allow users to search a variety of content, from scholarly articles and reviews, to news and economic data.  This guide should be viewed as a starting point for your research.  To contact this guides author please feel free to use the contact information this page.  For immediate assistance please use the "Chat with us" box on each page of this guide.

A note on Scholarly Research:

"A publication is considered to be scholarly if it is authored by academics for a target audience that is mainly academic, the printed format isn't usually a glossy magazine, and it is published by a recognized society with academic goals and missions" (from ProQuest).

Peer Review is an editorial process that involves review and approval of experts in the field before an article is published in a journal.  The term Refereed is often used in place of Peer Review.  Most scholarly works are peer reviewed, but not all.  If you  have a question regarding scholarly resources please contact the Bentley Library Reference at 781.891.2302 or or by using the "Chat with us" box on this page.
